In Kaos Gaming, players can create towns using the Towny plugin. Towns effectively carve out a safe zone in the wilderness, protecting buildings and chests... for a price. This post contains all the information you'll need to effectively run your own town.

The Basics:

Towns are created via an admin using the /town new command. When you wish to create a town, simply pay an admin using the /money pay command. They will then create the town in your chosen location, and then set you as its mayor. Upon completion they will leave the town, and you will be officially recognized as the owner.
To expand your town, you need to use the /town claim command on an adjacent unclaimed chunk. All claimed chunks expand a full 128 vertical blocks (bedrock to skytop).
To add/remove residents to your town, use the /town add and /town remove command. Only mayors or assistants can add/remove residents. Be sure to include the player's name when adding/removing. Example: /town add Dudeguy
To add/remove assistants to your town, use the /town assistant add and /town assistant remove commands. Assistants act as deputy mayors when the mayor is unavailable. Example: /town assistant add Dudeguy
To view a map of the surrounding chunks, type /towny map.

For a full list of commands, check out the /towny menu in-game.

Town Info:

Towns are areas of land owned by a single Lord (mayor). Players can take up residence inside towns, gaining protection and safe storage. The owner of a town has a title, ranging from the humble Sir all the way up to a mighty Duke. The title an owner has, as well as its maximum size is dependent on how many residents belong to that town.

Towns cost money to set up and keep running. In order for a town to keep existing, it must pay a set upkeep amount every 24 hours. This is subtracted from the town's coffers, which are filled by taxing its residents, or the mayor's own pocket if the town coffers aren't large enough. Taxes are completely optional, but enable a town's owner to automatically oversee the upkeep costs, in addition to withdrawing money for his/her own use. With proper management, owning a town can become very lucrative!

°Cost to establish a town: 500,000 KP
°Cost to claim 1 chunk of land: 1,000 KP

Upkeep is based on tiers and is withdrawn every 24 physical hours. Here is a complete list of upkeep costs:

°1 Resident (No Title) - 2,500 KP
°3 Residents (Villa) - 7,500 KP
°9 Residents (Hamlet) - 12,500 KP
°15 Residents (Village) - 31,250 KP
°21 Residents (Town) - 43,750 KP
°27 Residents (City) - 56,520 KP
°32 Residents (Grand City) - 87,500 KP
Failure to pay daily upkeep costs will result in the town's immediate removal. For a list of mayor and resident commands, type /town ? in-game.

Town expansion and upkeep payment is handled via the town's bank account. All residents can deposit money into the account with /town deposit. Mayors and assistants can withdraw from the town bank with /town withdraw.

Nation Info:

Nations are groups of towns united under a single banner. They have larger costs than towns, but can be used to create huge, powerful factions composed of dozens of players. Nation leaders have special titles, ranging from High Lord all the way up to King.

Nations can charge towns a daily tax to stay under their banner. Adding nation towns and assistants is done similarly to towns, with the /nation add and /nation assistant add respectively.

Like towns, Nations pay their upkeep by using a nation bank. All residents can directly deposit money into their nation's coffers with /nation deposit. Nation leaders and assistants can withdraw money with the /nation withdraw command.

°Cost to establish a Nation: 1,000,000 KP

A Nation's upkeep costs are based on how many players live in the Nation. Like towns, they are collected every 24 physical hours. Here is a complete list of costs:

°0-19 Residents (Guild) - 5000 Drachs
°20-39 Residents (Federation) - 10,000 KP
°40-59 Residents (Dominion) - 15,000 KP
°60-79 Residents (Kingdom) - 20,000 KP
°80-99 Residents (Empire) - 25,000 KP
°100 and Over (Grand Empire) - 30,000 KP

As with towns, failure to pay daily upkeep costs will result in the nation's removal. For a list of nation commands, type /nation ? in-game.

More Information:

Towns are not allowed to construct domes or other objects that render their towns totally inacessible to hookshotters. If you're that scared of being raided, build your town underground. Towns that make eyesores will be deleted!
